153 Criminal Illegal Immigrants Arrested in San Antonio and South Texas ICE Sweep

So much for 'Sanctuary cities.'

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers have just completed a huge roundup of criminal immigrants from Austin, through San Antonio, and down to Laredo and the Rio Grande Valley, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

A total of 153 criminal illegal immigrants were arrested.  Of those, 33 were turned over to the U.S. Attorney's office for prosecution for crimes committed in the U.S., and the rest are being processed for deportation.

ICE says the crimes committed by the illegal immigrants range from aggravated sexual assault of a child to sexual assault, burglary, alien smuggling, vehicular manslaughter, and drug trafficking.

"The vast majority of those arrested had prior criminal convictions," ICE said.

The most, 62, were arrested in San Antonio.

Mexico is by far the most common country of origin for the criminal aliens, with 140 hailing from Mexico.  Other countries represented in the roundup include Honduras, Guadelama, El Salvador, and even Canada.
