The first warm, sunny weekend of the summer led to tragedy on the Guadalupe River in New Braunfels, as a 27 year old swimmer drowned, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Police say they received a call to go to the river right under the I-35 overpass on a report of a man who had gone under the water.
When officers arrived, they were told that a swimmer had successfully crossed the river, but had gone under while attempting to swim back, apparently due to a cramp.
Officer launched boats into the water, and about two hours later, located the man's body.He is identified as a 27 year old from the South American nation of Colombia. He has been identified as Maikol Castiblanco-Espinoza. The cause of death has been determined to be accidental drowning.
