Becky Hammon is keeping her eyes on the prize, and she will not be distracted by the University of Florida, 1200 WOAI reports.
The basketball web site 'Swish Appeal dot com' reports Hammon has declined a lucrative offer to become the head coach of the Gators women's basketball team, and will remain in San Antonio as assistant coach of the San Antonio Spurs heading into the NBA playoffs.
Hammon has made no secret of her goal to become the first female head coach in the NBA. She is already the first full time female assistant coach in American big league sports.
While Hammon's salary in Gainesville would have been more than what she is making with the Spurs, Swish Appeal reports the salary offer was 'in the lower tier' of salaries in the SEC.
Hammon is a legend in the WNBA and the University of Florida felt strongly that she was the head coach who could revive the university's women's basketball team.
