North Side Restaurant Owner Shot in Robbery Attempt

The owner of a north side steak house was shot early today when he was approached by an armed robber as he left work after closing time, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Police say a man and a woman were confronted as they walked their car in the parking lot of the steak house at San Pedro and Isom about 12:15 AM.

Officers say the robber tried to steal the couple's belonging and their car, but the man fought back, and in the struggle, he was shot in the leg.

The would-be bandit then ran across the street to the Coronado Apartments, which officers ringed and began an apartment by apartment search, along with police dogs and helicopters shining spotlights into the complex.

The robber, a 19 year old man, was rinally apprehended by police about 2AM.

The owner is hospitalized with a wound which is not life threatening.
