A former guard at the privately run federal detention facility in downtown San Antonio is facing up to 15 years on the other side of the bars...for repeatedly having sex with an inmate, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
The feds say Barbara Jean Goodwin, 35, engaged in sexual activity with an inmate over six months in 2016 inside the G.E.O. Central Texas Detention Facility, which is the former Bexar County Jail.
Goodwin pleaded guilty in federal court on Tuesday. She will be sentenced in June.
Even if the sexual contact is consensual, sex between an inmate and a prison guard, just like sex between a teacher and a student, is against the law, if the person was under the 'custodial, supervisory or disciplinary authority' of the guard.
