Police Say Double Shooting on the West Side Overnight Just Doesn't Add Up

Police don't think they're getting even close to the whole story in a double shooting  on the city's west side early today, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

It started on Merida Street, jsut qwest of I-10, when three people in an SUV picked up a fourth person.

Police say they were told there was an altercation in the SUV and the man they picked up tried to rob the driver.

A woman in the back seat tried to grab the man's gun and it went off, hitting the man once.  He was dumped out of the SUV and taken by ambulance to the hospital in stable condition.

About an hour later, police found the SUV abandoned on Carmen Street, which is about six blocks away, and at a home nearby they found the driver of the SUV bleeding from a gunshot wound.

He was taken to the hospital, but police say none of this adds up and they need to ask more questions to try to determine what really happened.
