Police have cleared a multi vehicle accident at I-10 on the city's northwest side this morning that left one person dead and blocked the morning rush hour for many commuters, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
The accident happened on eastbound I-10 near DeZavala, and at one point inbound traffic was blocked all the way to Ralph Fair Road.
Police say a vehicle hit another vehicle on the eastbound lanes of inbound I-10.
Officers say the driver was trying to speed away from the scene of the wreck when he lost control and hit the guard rail. His car flipped over, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.A total of five vehicles were involved in the accident.
The wreck also tied up traffic on Loop 1604 near the I-10 exit.
