The 'bipolar disorder made me do it' defense wasn't enough to spare a local man a lengthy prison term for distribution of child pornography, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
A 'dream team' of local defense attorneys tried several tactics to keep Jason Randolph out of prison, but when the judge learning that Randolph had been chatting on line with a 14 year old boy who was being sexually abused by his father, and never thought to call the police, he was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison.
Federal prosecutors say Randolph was a member of 15 different on line groups that traded child porn photographs and videos.Investigators found a large amount of child porn on Randolph's computer.
The judge also rejected Randolph's claim that he suffers from mental disease and was not responsible for his actions.
