A 24 year old woman has been killed in a freak accident in the parking lot of a southeast side Walmart, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Police were called to the Walmart in the 4700 block of Pecan Valley shortly after midnight on Sunday.
When they arrived, they were told that a pickup truck started skidding out of control in the parking lot. A passenger apparently got scared and tried to get out of the truck.
The passenger was knocked down by the open door of the pickup and run over.
The driver then drove across the parking lot and slammed into a tree.
The passenger was pronounced dead at SAMMC.
The driver was taken to a hospital for a mandatory blood and DWI test.
Officers are trying to determine if the female driver may have accidentally hit the accelerator rather than the brake when the passenger was getting out of the truck.
