Police Shoot, Kill Suspect in Drug Raid

A San Antonio Police Officer shot and killed a suspect during a southwest side drug raid today, News Radio 1200 WOAI news reports.

Police were called to Vickers Ave to serve a search warrant.

Chief William McManus says one of several suspects in the house pulled a gun when officers entered the home.

"The officers were highly identifiable, they went in the door, and as soon as they went in, the suspect pulled a sawed off shotgun and pointed it at the officer," McManus said.

He says there were a series of officers making the raid."They were undercover and they were uniformed," he said.  "But the undercover were very identifiable due to the garb they were wearing when they entered the house."

The man who pulled the shotgun on the officers was pronounced dead at the scene.  Five other drug suspects in the house surrendered.  

None of the officers was hurt.
