Uresti: Raid is a 'Broad Investigation' into Bankrupt Fracking Materials Company

State Senator Carlos Uresti released a statement this afternoon on the IRS and FBI raid on his San Antonio law office today, saying it is part of a 'broad' federal investigation into a bankrupt fracking materials company, and has nothing to do with his State Senate position, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

"Today, FBI agents are in my office, reviewing our documents as part of their broad investigation of the Four Winds matter" Uresti said in the statement, adding that he has instructed the staff at his law office to 'cooperate fully.'

Four Winds is a fracking materials company that went bankrupt during the oil bust of 2015.  The company has been accused of misleading investors, and three former executives are facing federal charges.

Uresti served as outside counsel to Four Winds.

Uresti says the raid will not affect his work in the Texas State Senate.

"As always, I remain committed to serve my constituents," he said in the statement, adding that he is 'always available to serve my constituents.'

The IRS declined to comment on the raid. FBI computer agents were seen entering and leaving the building.

Uresti has been a member of the Texas Legislature since 1997.  He is from one of the most prominent political families in the San Antonio area, and now represents a State Senate district that stretches from downtown San Antonio to the Rio Grande Valley.
