The City of San Antonio tonight will take the wraps off its latest downtown landmark, as DC Partners and locally based University Service Group will unveil The Arts Residences at the Thompson Hotel, an upscale hotel-condo property being built on Lexinton Ave near the El Tropicano Hotel, right across the San Antonio River from the Tobin Center.
The 21 story property will consist of a Thompson Hotel topped by 66 luxury-living condos, as well as restaurants and other amenities.
The Thompson Hotel is a chain of boutique hotels which are mainly focused on arts and cultural attractions.
The plan is for the project to be completed by 2019.
The development is part of the City's 'Decade of Downtown' effort to attract new attractions downtown and encourage people to live in the downtown area. It is also part of an effort to build a vibrant arts and cultural neighborhood on the north edge of downtown, anchored by the Tobin Center.
