If Hillary Clinton had had this product last year, things might have worked out very differently.
Jungle Disk, a prominent cybersecurity company based in downtown San Antonio has released a security program that protects the e-mails of small businesses from hacking or attacks by malicious employees and former employees.
CEO Bret Piatt tells News Radio 1200 WOAI that the data security suite protects e-mails which are distributed using common business software like Microsoft Office 365 or Google G-Suite.He says it also notifies users when their e-mail systems have been compromised.
"If the Russian hackers did get into your e-mail, you would all of a sudden see that your e-mails were getting accessed from another location," he said.
Piatt says small businesses are increasingly aware of the security flaws inherent in basic e-mail systems, something that was devastatingly shown last summer, when hackers breached the Democratic National Committee e-mail server and revealed the inner workings of the party as it approached the election.
He says since more and more small businesses are migrating to commercial e-mail programs, this type of security system is in demand.“Cloud-based email platforms are reliable but the reliability does not protect against accidental folder deletions or malicious activity by a hacker or disgruntled employee," he said.
"Now using the Jungle Disk Email Archiving service, businesses can have peace of mind knowing that they are protected with a safe, separate second copy of their email.”
Jungle Disk, which is a Rackspace spin-off, markets its products to small businesses, with some 25,000 clients in North America. It bills itself as 'the data security suite for main street.'
The company says small businesses are becoming painfully aware of the hazards of computer hacking. It says some 45% of small companies which experience a security breach end up going out of business.
