Wrong Way Driver May Have Fired at Trooper

A helicopter was scouring the Stone Oak as police on the ground searched for a car containing people who may have fired a shot at a State Trooper this morning, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

The DPS says the trooper spotted the car speeding southbound in the northbound lanes of US 281 at Bulverde Road, and, as the officer was turning around to pursue, he heard 'what he thought was a gunshot.'

The Trooper started chasing the car, but lost it.Nobody was hurt, and officials stress they are uncertain about whether a shot was actually fired.

The car allegedly came into Bexar County from Comal County, where residents there also reported it was being pursued by law officers.

San Antonio Police said a Postal Inspector was also on the case, indicating that there is evidence that the suspect may have been involved in the shooting of a mail carrier in Comal County on Saturday, in which mail was stolen.

The DPS says Troopers are looking for a brown Toyota Venza.  No word on how many people were inside the car.
