A railroad bridge at Macdonna-Lacoste and Hakelberg Road, which is west of Lackland Air Force Base, caught fire overnight, halting main east-west rail traffic on the Union Pacific main line that runs between New Orleans and Los Angeles.
By the time Bexar County Fire crews arrived, the wooden 'trestle style' bridge was engulfed in flames.
By the time they got it put out, the bridge had been severely damaged.No word on what caused the fire.
Nobody was hurt.
