San Antonio Police are looking for a modern day Jean Valjean, the character from the classic novel 'Les Miserables' who claimed he only stole because he was hungry.
Detectives tell News Radio 1200 WOAI a man broke into a home on Silent Path Street, which is off Tezel Road on the northwest side, and surprised a pregnant woman while she was sleeping.
Police say the man kept apologizing to the woman, telling her he didn't want to hurt her..but needed to rob her home because he had 'lost her job and he needed money.'
The man tied the woman's hands and feet but didn't hurt her.
He kept apologizing for burglarizing her, and even left behind a knife that she could use to cut herself loose after he was gone.
Police are trying to determine exactly what was taken from the home.
