Texas Supreme Court Rules Against Lawmakers' Efforts To Halt Execution

The Texas Supreme Court is paving the way for the execution of convicted child killer Robert Roberson. A bi-partisan coalition of state lawmakers oppose it, saying the case hinged on the now-debunked theory of "shaken baby syndrome." Days before his execution, they issued a subpoena that ordered him to come to the State Capitol for a hearing. And it worked. But now the state's high court has ruled that state lawmakers do not have the power to override the legal process, leading to an execution.
