Texas State officials say they've ended their talks with the Mountain West Conference. Campus officials say they told the Sun Belt Conference they won't be leaving after they received a verbal offer over the weekend. The exit fee for the Bobcats program to leave a conference was estimated to have been five-million dollars. Texas State's decision follows UTEP's decision to join the Mountain West Conference. The UTEP move takes effect in July 2026. UTEP joined Conference USA in 2005.
