San Antonio continues to be popular with the bird population despite its urban footprint growth. Researchers at the University of Texas at San Antonio carried out a two-year study that found bird feeders are important at attracting a variety of different birds around town. Over 6,000 birds from some 40 different species were spotted in San Antonio backyards over the two years, a number that researchers say is quite high for an urban area.
