Senator Ted Cruz is insisting that the Justice Department investigate the response to the Santa Fe High School shooting in 2018. Retired Secret Service agent Mike Matranga had originally called on the DOJ to investigate. Matranga received an unsigned reply that referred him to the FBI and incorrectly referred to Columbine. Cruz sent a sharply worded letter that took the DOJ to task for their response. The DOJ has apologized, and is reportedly thinking about conducting a probe similar to those for shootings in Uvalde and Orlando.
