GOP Gaining Support Among Hispanics In Big Texas Cities

Republicans are gaining support among Hispanic voters in some of the bigger cities in Texas. In 2016, Hillary Clinton won the Latino vote by a 27-point margin statewide, but by 2020, Joe Biden's margin had shrunk to 17-points. In Houston, San Antonio, and other major cities, the Democrats' 2020 margin was an average of 17-points lower than 2016 in precincts with at least 80-percent Latino voters. Nearly 40-percent of Latino voters in Texas voted for Donald Trump that year, and if that trend continues, Democrats can forget their long-cherished goal of turning Texas blue.
