Horse-drawn carriages in downtown San Antonio may be on their way into the sunset. The city council's five-member Transportation and Infrastructure Committee voted unanimously on Monday for city staff to come up with a plan to phase out the carriages within one to three years. An online survey with more than 50-thousand responses showed 52-percent supporting a ban. The rest were divided between leaving the carriages alone, expanding them beyond downtown, or relocating them to city parks. The staff will present its plan to the full city council by the end of October.
