Rangers Defeat Cardinals In Series Opener

The Texas Rangers took down the St. Louis Cardinals 6-3 in the series opener at Busch Stadium. Nathaniel Lowe led Texas at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and a pair of runs scored. Adolis Garcia, Jonah Heim, Corey Seager and Leody Taveras also drove-in a run to help the Rangers snap a three-game losing streak. Nathan Eovaldi earned the win and moved to 8-and-4 after letting up three runs through six frames. Kirby Yates recorded his 19th save as the Rangers improved to 52-and-55. They visit the Cards again tonight. Right-hander Max Scherzer will start opposite St. Louis righty Lance Lynn.
