Texas elected officials of both parties are unhappy with President Joe Biden's new border proclamation. Biden issued an order on Tuesday for border agents to turn away asylum seekers after the first 2,500 a day. Gov. Greg Abbott and Texas Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz, all Republicans, say Biden took the action because of his low approval ratings in an election year. A coalition of Texas Democrats joined Biden in the White House as he announced the order. But some Texas Democrats denounced the policy as a ban on asylum.
