A new Texas immigration policy is still on hold after the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals held a hearing about it on Wednesday. A three-judge panel heard arguments from both state and federal attorneys concerning Senate Bill 4. The law would allow state and local police in Texas to arrest, detain, and deport suspected illegal immigrants. A lower court issued an injunction keeping the law from being enforced. At the end of the hour-long hearing, the appeals court left the law shelved while its constitutional challenges are adjudicated.
