Prosecutors and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton are agreed on the terms that will dismiss his longstanding securities fraud charges. On Tuesday, the special prosecutors announced an 18-month pre-trial agreement to drop the three felony counts against Paxton. In return, the attorney general must pay full restitution to victims--approximately $300,000. Paxton must also complete 100 hours of community service and take 15 hours of legal ethics education. He does not have to enter a plea as a condition of the proposed agreement. The nearly nine-year-old felony case has been a day to day reality for the one of the state's key Republicans. The deal was brokered weeks before his trial was set to begin on April 15th.
