Poll Shows Texans Support Operation Lone Star

A majority of Texas voters approve of a move to deploy state troopers to the border, where they have been rolling out miles of razor wire. That's according to new polling, which shows both Republicans and Democrats support the tactics used during Operation Lone Star.

"We also saw what I would say a non-trivial share of Democrats supportive of raising the bar for migrants that wanted asylum," said Jim Henson with the Texas Politics Project."

Henson says this could be due to a shift in who is coming across the border. It's no longer families. It's mostly single men from around the world who are looking for work. Fewer are fleeing threats to their life and the vast majority will not qualify for asylum.
