A federal appeals court is ruling that Texas can ban abortions even in emergency situations. In 2022, the federal Department of Health and Human Services said medical providers should offer abortions during medical emergencies, even in states where abortion is banned. Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sued in an attempt to block that ruling. On Tuesday, the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals sided with him.
