Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar is running for reelection, and he has a challenger. Salazar stated months ago that he would be seeking a third term, but he made it official on Saturday at the county Democratic Party Headquarters on Fredericksburg Road. Salazar was first elected in 2016 and was reelected in 2020. The sheriff's race will be on the ballot next November. Salazar's fellow Democrat Sharon Rodriguez has also filed to run for sheriff. Rodriguez lost in the Democratic primary in 2020.
