The San Antonio Spurs have now lost 14 games in a row, after losing 121-106 to the Pelicans in New Orleans on Friday night. Devin Vassell led San Antonio with 14 points. The Spurs, who are 3 and 16 on the season, will try to break their losing streak when they return to action on Wednesday in a game on the road against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

SPURS POSTGAME QUOTES:

Spurs Head Coach Greg Popovich

On Charles Bassey’s energy and if it motivates the team:

“Yeah, I think they really appreciate him. He excites them when he blocks a shot or makes a play of some sort. He is really respected.”

On the differences between coaching international players:

“No difference whatsoever. It’s basketball, no matter how you slice it. The same fundamentals, win, lose. Whether you have the fundamentals or you don’t. Talent is important. Skills are important. Heart is important. You mentioned Manu (Ginobli): he had skills, he had heart, tenacity, all of those things are the same. Whether you are from Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, or Massachusetts in the United States, it does not matter.”

Spurs Guard/Forward Keldon Johnson

On how the game went:

“I feel like we’re playing better. Obviously, we want to win, we don’t want to lose. We’re trending in the right direction. We continue to get better each and every game. We have to limit the turnovers [and] limit mistakes. We’re improving.”

On teammates buying-in:

“I feel like we’re all bought into the process. Nobody said it would be easy, and nobody’s going to feel sorry for us. Nobody’s going to give us anything, so we understand that if we want to win, we have to go out there and do the things that it takes to win, and make the right plays at all times. The whole team understands that. We just have to put it together.”
