An explosion and fire at a chemical plant in Shepherd, Texas has prompted San Jacinto County Office of Emergency Management officials to issue a shelter-in-place order for residents around the Sound Resource Solutions facility.
A private school near the petroleum processing center has been evacuated. One person was reportedly hurt in the blast and has been rushed to the hospital with burns.
Shepherd, Texas is about 55 miles northeast of Houston.
