The U.S. Marshals Service is warning San Antonio residents about a scammer who phones people with arrest threats and demands for money. Officials say a man has been calling people and claiming to be a deputy U.S. Marshal. The scammer tells people arrest warrants were issued for them or their relatives for failure to appear in court. The caller says they can avoid arrest by paying a fine with a cashier's check or wire transfer. The U.S. Marshals pointed out they don't do business like that over the phone.
