Texas Unemployment Rate Seen As Sign Of State's Growing Economy

The unemployment rate in Texas is stubbornly refusing to return to pre-pandemic levels, but experts say that's not a bad thing. The state's jobless rate is just above four-percent, placing it above the national average and in a tie for the fifth-worst in the country. But the Department of Labor Statistics says Texas has led the country in job growth for nearly two-years. Economic experts say the state's higher unemployment rate results from an expanding labor force. People are moving to Texas from other states, and more native residents remain in Texas than any other state in the nation.
