Rangers Shutout Rays In Game One Of AL Wild Card

Jordan Montgomery shined on the mound to lead the Rangers to a shutout win over the Rays in St. Petersburg. Texas defeated Tampa Bay 4-0 at Tropicana Field in its AL Wild Card series opener.

Montgomery tossed five strikeouts over seven scoreless frames before giving way to the bullpen. Corey Seager led Texas at the plate, going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Evan Carter was 2-for-2 with a run scored as the Rangers took a 1-0 series lead.

Rays starter Tyler Glasnow was charged the loss after he allowed four runs, three earned, through five frames. Tampa went 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position in the Game One loss.

Only 19,704 fans showed up to watch Game One, which was the lowest attendance for a postseason game since the 1919 World Series. The two teams will take the field for Game Two at Tropicana Field on Wednesday afternoon.
