Sarkisian Talks About Rice Win, Upcoming Alabama Game

The Texas Longhorns are coming off a win over Rice and now turn their attention to the Alabama Crimson Tide.

During his Monday news conference, Head Coach Steve Sarkisian had some final thoughts about the Rice game. "What I thought defensively, kind of held true. I thought we played really hard. I thought we populated the ball, tackled pretty hard," said Sarkisian. "We found ways to pressure the quarterback."

"Special teams was a little hit and miss. We did some things really well. A couple of things when we watch the tape we'd like to do it a little bit better, but that's what week one to week two is," said Sarkisian.

"Offensively, that inconsistency early on, especially at the line of scrimmage. We made some errors up front that were uncharacteristic, for us," said Sarkisian. "Things that occurred are fixable. Everybody on our team has room for improvement - coaches included where we could be better going into Week Two."

Looking ahead:

"Clearly Week Two is a great challenge. Going to play Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Bryant-Denny Stadium. Should be a good night of football," said Sarkisian. "I know the key to the drill for us is focusing on what we need to do to prepare and getting ourselves in the right frame of mind, mentally, physically and emotionally to play a four quarter, hard-fought, very physical game."
