Southside ISD officials claim their district is the only one in San Antonio with metal detectors installed on every campus. Following last year's school shooting in Uvalde, the district conducted a community survey about the possibility of walk-through metal detectors. Eighty-percent of respondents reportedly supported the idea. Southside ISD spent 80-thousand-dollars to install 35 detectors at school entrances.
