Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar says he's running for a third term in office. Salazar announced his reelection campaign on Saturday during a luncheon at the San Antonio Professional Firefighters Association Hall. Salazar, a Democrat, defeated the Republican candidate Gerry Rickhoff in November 2020 to win his second term as sheriff. The current term will end on December 31st, 2024.
