The Rangers are continuing to gear up for a shot at their first World Series title. Texas is acquiring left-handed starter Jordan Montgomery and right-handed reliever Chris Stratton in a trade with the St. Louis Cardinals. The AL West-leading Rangers will send reliever John King to St. Louis along with a pair of top prospects in infielder Thomas Saggese and right-hander Tekoah Roby. Montgomery was 6-and-9 with a 3.42 ERA in 21 starts with St. Louis this season, while Stratton had thrown the fifth-most innings of any reliever in baseball. The trade comes one day after the Rangers made a deal to add three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer from the New York Mets in exchange for prospect Luisangel Acuna.
