Attorney General Ken Paxton's allies are lobbying for the ability to drop all charges against him with no need for a trial. A Texas Senate committee is working to devise the rules for Paxton's upcoming impeachment trial. But House impeachment managers are warning the committee not to adopt rules that would lead to a "sham trial." The committee's recommendations are expected to be put before the full Senate on Tuesday. Paxton's attorney Tony Buzbee says the Senate should create rules that allow members to dismiss the case with no trial.
