The Electrical Reliability Council of Texas says a Weather Watch will be in effect from Thursday until next week. The agency issued the alert on Tuesday to notify Texans about its forecast of increased energy demand due to this week's higher temperatures. ERCOT says the watch doesn't affect grid conditions, and there's enough capacity to meet the weather conditions in the forecast. The Weather Watch will last from June 15th to June 21st.

“ERCOT has issued its first Weather Watch to let Texans know that we are forecasting increased demand due to the higher temperatures expected this week and into next week,” said Pablo Vegas, ERCOT President and CEO. “Grid conditions are normal when we issue a Weather Watch. ERCOT continues to monitor conditions closely and will deploy all available tools to manage the grid and will continue our reliability-first approach to operations, always prioritizing grid reliability.”

ERCOT encourages everyone to sign up for grid condition notifications through the Texas Advisory and Notification System (TXANS) at ercot.com/txans.
