The Rangers will be without their ace for the remainder of the season. Texas starting pitcher Jacob deGrom is set to undergo season-ending surgery to repair a tear in his ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. Rangers general manager Chris Young said that the decision for deGrom to have surgery came after a recent MRI. The two-time NL Cy Young Award winner said that "we've got a special group here, and to not be able to be out there and help them win, that stinks." The 34-year-old went 2-and-0 with a 2.67 ERA through six starts this season. DeGrom inked a five-year, 185-million dollar deal with Texas this past offseason.
