The Rangers are moving on from a member of their bullpen. Texas has designated right-hander Ian Kennedy for assignment following a shaky start to the season. The 38-year-old was 0-and-1 with an ERA of 7.20 through 11 appearances this year. Kennedy signed with Texas during the offseason on a minor league deal and was able to make the Opening Day roster. The Rangers will now have a week to trade Kennedy or pass him through waivers. Texas has recalled left-hander John King from Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move.
