The Texans are moving on from their second head coach in the last two seasons. Houston decided to fire Lovie Smith on Sunday night following a 32-31 win over the Colts. Smith led the Texans to a 3-13-and-1 record in his lone season at the helm. Smith said that he had "absolutely" expected to return to lead the franchise in 2023, but owner Cal McNair had different plans. Houston will now begin its head coaching search for the third time in three years.
