SPURS POSTGAME QUOTES

Spurs Head Coach Gregg Popovich

(On the team’s overall play…)

“I thought they were great. If you win or you lose, you're still going to watch the film, and there’s always things you can do better. Milwaukee can play, the Nets; and both could have won ten in a row, and there’s going to be mistakes in the game, and the coaches will let them know. So, the best part about it is that they competed physically and busted their ass for the whole game, and that was great. I thought Jakob [Poeltl] was a monster on the board. He doesn’t get credit for that, but he’s working his butt off on the board. He’s not that big of body, but he’s getting hit, absorbs it, and does his job. I thought Romeo [Langford] was great in the third quarter with his defense and obviously he scored well, and that got us through.”

(On Tre Jones’ play tonight…)

“You know Tre [Jones] just gives you everything on both ends. He’s driving to the hole, he’s trying to make passes, and playing [defense]. He reminds me of Corey Joseph in that way.”

Spurs Guard Romeo Langford

(On how he felt the team played…)

“It felt good just to get back on the win [Column]. We let one slip up in New York, last game. We played a full 48 minutes. We knew we had some guys missing, but we played great team basketball and got the win tonight.”

(On adjusting mid-game without Keldon Johnson…)

“With Keldon [Johnson] out, that's a big piece of our team in general, especially offense. The main thing on offense now, we have to move even more, because he gets a lot of plays called for him. Now, it’s going to be less play calling and more team basketball, moving and cutting without the ball.”

Spurs Guard Tre Jones

(On being able to win while being shorthanded…)

“I felt we hand to grind that one out a little bit more. It was hectic there for a little bit, but we were able to come together with the next-man-up mentality and pulled off a big win for us to start the new year.”

(On stepping up as a big-time scorer tonight…)

“With our top two scorers being out, I think that was definitely part of it. Obviously, Devin [Vassell] being out for an extended period of time now and Keldon being out as well.”
