New federal data shows drug and alcohol deaths are increasing among U.S. adults 65 and older. A new CDC report out today shows the rates of drug overdose deaths among seniors have more than tripled in the past two decades. Overdose death rates tend to be lower for seniors than for other age groups, though the new data indicates those deaths are on the rise. A second report from the CDC shows the rates of alcohol-induced deaths among U.S. adults over 65 have been climbing since 2011. The reports didn't say what was causing the climbing death rates.
