Ruben Ruiz, the husband of murdered teacher Eva Mireles, is resigning from the Uvalde CISD Police Department. District officials confirmed his resignation on Sunday, but couldn't confirm when it became effective. Mireles was one of the two teachers killed at Robb Elementary during the mass shooting in May, along with 19 students. Ruiz was one of the first officers to arrive at the school on the day of the shooting. He tried to save his wife, but other officers stopped him.
