Verlander Ready For World Series Start

The 118th edition of the Fall Classic gets underway when the Houston Astros host the Philadelphia Phillies in Game One of the World Series tonight. The 'Stros finished the regular season with the best record in the American League at 106-and-56. Houston received a bye in the Wild Card round before sweeping the Seattle Mariners in the Division Series and the New York Yankees in the ALCS. Rookie shortstop Jeremy Pena was awarded the ALCS MVP after going 6-for-18 with a pair of homers. Justin Verlander will get the start for the Astros in Game One. The Phillies finished the regular season 87-and-75. The Phils are in the World Series for the first time since 2009 after taking out the St. Louis Cardinals in the Wild Card round, the Atlanta Braves in the Division Series and the San Diego Padres in the NLCS. Bryce Harper was awarded the NLCS MVP after going 8-for-20 with two home runs. Aaron Nola is expected to get the start for Philadelphia in Game One.
