Fire, Police Unions Call On NYC To Drop Public Vax Mandate

New York City's fire and police unions are calling on Mayor Adams to drop the coronavirus vaccine mandate for public employees. It comes as the vaccine mandate for private sector employees is set to expire on November 1st. 

FDNY Firefighters Association President Andrew Ansboro says some 200 members are facing termination as staffing issues lead to very high levels of overtime. 

Meantime, Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Lynch is calling on the city to immediately settle any pending lawsuits and reinstate members who unjustly lost their jobs with backpay.
