Eight Migrants Dead After Dozens Swept Away In Rio Grande

At least eight migrants are dead after being swept downriver along the Rio Grande near Eagle Pass. Dozens of migrants were swept downriver in what appears to be the deadliest mass drowning in years along the border.  U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said the drownings happened Thursday morning when a large group attempted to cross the river, which was running with strong currents after multiple days of rain. CBP officials rescued 37 people from the river, part of a larger group of over 50 that was taken into U.S. custody.
