Corpse Flower Fails To Bloom At Zoo, Starts To Decompose

San Antonio Zoo officials say the anticipated blooming of its resident corpse flower isn't happening after all. The zoo reported a foul smell coming from the plant over the weekend, indicating the bloom was about to open. But on Monday, the zoo announced that the plant was starting to sag and decompose, which is a natural part of the flower's life cycle. Zoo officials say the plant, named La Llorona, is still alive and can bloom again in about ten-years.
